Saturday, May 9, 2015 - Excellent balance, not least in the nose. As is often the case in my book, the class of the wine reveals itself through the "smellabilty" - it can be sniffed all night.

There is a substantial but not sharp acidity. During the evening, the taste moved towards succulent sweet cherries, while blueberry, cassis, cocoa, Swedish punsch (although not sweet) and a little bit of rosehip dominated in the beginning. The aftertaste is rather long.

From what I have come to understand, but without knowing due to lack of experience, the fruity juiciness sets this wine aside from a typical Bordeaux, which would be leaner and not seldom reek of cigarr or old dampness.

This wine is a little too kind and round for my taste - Lytton Springs 2010 with its turbo acid and intense rosehip character is more of a conversation stopper and charmer - but it is certainly lovely. Furthermore, it is likely to get more interesting with time and perhaps some age markers will make it soar past many a good Bordeaux. (90+)
