Saturday, September 12, 2015 - The wine is clear and pale lemon in colour.
The nose is clean and has medium (+) intensity aromas of ripe citrus fruits such as lemon and grapefruit, mineral notes of wet stones and damp chalk, hint of vegetal such as grass, hint of yeast such as biscuit from lees ageing. The wine is youthful.
The palate is dry with high acidity, high alcohol (14.5%), full body, medium (+) flavours of lemon peel, grapefruit, wet stones, and biscuit. The finish is long. The wine feels almost creamy in the mouth.
The wine is outstanding. The acidity balances the fruit and the alcohol is well integrated. The flavours, although not complex, are reasonably pronounced and pure, and the finish is long. This is an excellent example of a Sancerre which has filled out with bottle age. The wine is ready to drink now and should be consumed in the next 18 months
Even better than the last bottle - outstanding.
