2010 Canneto Rosso di Montepulciano

Community Tasting Note

Does not like this wine:

86 Points

Tuesday, April 30, 2013 - Disappointingly over-ripe, jammy and borderline baked. It has its moment of enticement in the initial impression after opening, but a little air causes the roasted qualities to emerge, acid to recede if it was ever there, and what's left lacks charm and refinement. Plummy fruit finishes hot. I don't know what the '10 vintage was supposed to be like in Montepulciano, but here it seems it was broiling hot or they left the grapes out too long. This has a somewhat silky texure that I would gladly trade for some sangiovese bite. Could have been made in a factory in the Maremma for all I can tell. Hard to drink and harder to finish.
