Saturday, July 21, 2012 - Just got my 2010s cellared and ordered my 2011s. Popped open the 2010 spatlese to get a taste of how this will someday be. light gold-yellow color. the nose is peculiar. my wife found it very off-putting, but i enjoyed it. very complex nose of herbs and veggies. no fruit on the nose. it was also a cool, almost cold nose. not that huge big citrus nose you can sometimes have a riesling. great mouthfeel. flavorful, sleek, but lingering. made you want to smile. on the palate thats when the fuit hits. its creamy in the mouth and you have the herbs and green leafy veggies that progress to stone fruit and some acid on the end. no sulfur this early on, which is to be expected...i always try to avoid the sulfur-y funk period of my rieslings. nice finish, around 30s, but you can lick your teeth and get a feel of it back! this is gonna lay down and cellar nicely. i'll probably pop my next one open in 2020 and drink onwards from there. a typical intellectual adam wine. glad i have a full set of 2011s on the way!!
