Sunday, June 23, 2013 - Tasted at Vino wine tasting (Hollywood,Florida). This wine had a deep purple color and a very tight nose. After 30 minutes in the glass, there was still very little fruit, and no florals. It's taste was also austere, with dark tart fruit and lots of musty earth. I really tried to like this wine, because I usually enjoy Loire Cab Franc, but I could find very little to go with. I thought that maybe it was a bad bottle, but it was poured by it's distributer, as part of a tasting, and she sampled it as well. Even after the tasting was over, I tried another pour from a bottle that was opened for more than an hour. The distributer's write-up noted tastes of damson plums. When I Googled this plum, it reported that this fruit was "astringent", so maybe this is what the wine is supposed to taste like. I read other favorable tasting notes, so I must be missing something.
