Sunday, September 6, 2009 - More ruby and less garnet than the previous with a very healthy glimmer to the surface. An interesting and much more powerful bouquet than the Brunello. Rich cassis together with the usual developed merlot chicken shit that I expect to see more in right bank wines. A touch of spice too, but certainly nothing green. In fact this is the most Paulliac I've ever seen a Lalande show - maybe something to do with being served after the Brunello? Definitely plenty of sweetly ripe cassis fruit in reserve in the mid-palate to balance the more developed merlot. A glossy texture, wonderful fine ripe tannins in the background and a lengthy finish complete the picture. Easily the most backward bottle of the case so far.

No rush here. In fact I'd put this particular bottle somewhere in early maturity with a little more time needed to get more harmony of the components. Lovely wine.
