Friday, February 8, 2013 - First a bit shy, then half of the bottle decanted for 1 hr, somehow overripe, not really fresh. One had the impression, that this case is to drink soon. Great nose anyway.
Then we drank the other half, that waited in bottle for 2 hrs: wow, what a great wine! Tons of ripe smooth fruits, freshness, strong middle and decent length with a melting taste of caramel and leather! A textbook 1989, my favorite "younger" vintage which is (mostly) ready to drink. I am a fan of a very classical Bdx style, but more and more I get the impression that 1989 rules over 1990? As often (1990, 2005), Comtesse Lalande fools you at first, but the 2nd half of the bottle performs with impressive fruit and smoothness. Drink now (til 2028?), but let it breathe ( in bottle) a while before!
