Sunday, October 5, 2014 - Popped and consumed over 3 hours. Initially quite closed but it opened up after about an hour.

Garnet, with some hints of brick at the rim. Full aromas of dark fruit, plum, some leather and lead pencil and hints of wet earth. Full bodied with smooth tannins and still quite lively fruit and some fresh acidity. A long and fresh finish.

Not the greatness I was expecting, but still a very good wine. Still remarkably lively and young for a wine of this age. Should we have let it breathe for longer? It certainly has many more years ahead.
