Friday, February 22, 2013 - wonderful Northern Rhone white from famed JL Chave.
There is large discrepancy online over whether this is 100% Roussanne (which would be unusual)
or Marsanne with a small amount of Roussanne. (which would be more consistent with St Joseph.)

Color is a medium yellow straw
The nose & palate don't match, surprisingly, at first opening, but quickly opens up.
Initial nose thats tight, stinky cheese, but opens up quickly, though is still restrained:
Anjou pear, meyer lemon/citrus, wet stone.

Blossoms on the palate - one of the best Rhone whites I have had in a while and gets better every 5 minutes.
Wonderful texture & mouth feel, lean but expressive. White peach, kaffir lime, orange marmalade, richness and acidity in harmony.

amazing Rhone white, wish I had bought more.
