92 Points

Sunday, August 26, 2012 - Poured half of bottle into decanter and followed over 5h. Medium garnet. A fine and complex nose with initially a bit of cedar, a bouquet of mainly dark fruit, flowers, earth, sous-bois and a bit of barnyard. Medium body and very fine but still dense tannin structure. A fairly long but subtle finish.
This wine changes with time in the glass (at some point in time I had sour cream potato chips on the nose..) but does never really "opens up" and I wonder whether it ever will. With the exception of even softer tannins and an even darker fruit profile, the rest of bottle on day 2 was pretty much unchanged, so not sure whether another 5 years will see a major "improvement" here. It's a wine to sip and demands attention as it speaks in "sotto voce". 91-92
