90 Points

Sunday, May 8, 2011 - A big, beefy wine and quite astringent on first taste. After a couple of hours in the decanter it softened a bit and a more typical Pauillac cassis profile was revealed. Dense fruit, a touch austere but not lean and well masked tannins. Like other 94s it lacks a little on the finish but otherwise a good wine. A touch of astringency remained - interestingly it meant the wine went well with cheese (Vacherin Fribourgeois) - something I don't usually find with Bordeaux. Just about mature though a few years to go before it reaches its peak.
