Sunday, November 16, 2014 - Tasted at Wine Advocat event - A matter of taste. A popular wine, having made it a few times into the Top 100 of wine spectator, so much for its quality (or should we say commercial) accolades. A 80% Sangiovese and 20% Malvasia blend, hence the IGT and not DOCG. Medium garnet. Expressive nose of red fruit with a barnyard and leather note, nice and complex. Medium bodied, more on the lighter elegant side of a Sangiovese but with since and soft tannins for an 08. Well done!

11/23/2014 6:32:00 AM - I just bought a few bottles of the 2010 I Sodi di San Niccolò. From my perspective it's year after year one of the best bets in Tuscany if you prefer an elegant style of high-quality Sangiovese. It requires a lot of time in the bottle though.... The 2001 is just starting to open up aromatically. It's actually surprising that WS rates this wine highly pretty often... not exactly the style WS usually prefers.
