Tuesday, March 10, 2009 - Incredibly inky and completely opaque in the glass.
Aromas were not as strong as I expected. Some dark berries with licorice and scorhed earth. Some smoked meatiness but not alot.
Palate is hot showing more dark fruit and tar. Not the best Petite I've experienced, but then again, this was an 'off-year' in which many Napa Petite Sirah's didn't show well.
The finish still showed nice balance with high tannins, moderate high acidity and moderate high alcohol that did show hotter than desired. This is my first Switchback Petite and I have not given up on them yet. Can't wait to try the others in my cellar.
