Sunday, July 1, 2012 - (13.5%) Ripe, thin plum on the nose this one ($22) initially seems to be lacking in fruit but opens up with some air. Ripe, juicy and full with tongue staining dark fruits and licorice spice but nowhere close to going over the top as it turns earthy with nice acidity, pepper spice and tannic grip that lasts through the finish. Like the previous vintages a nice wine but like some of those nice girls you dated this one has never evoked passion in me. Like then, it’s not you. It’s me so give this one a go. Well made and super food friendly. Be sure to twist the cap off a couple hours prior to dinner if you can...

Wine Geek Notes: 953 cases made; Vineyard wise 56% Alamo Creek, 32% Bien Nacido, 12% Chequera; Twist-off
