COLOR: Deep garnet with med-garnet rim
NOTE: What a beautiful wine, and it seems to be drinking optimally right now. Nose is a sweet cassis liqueur complemented by rich cherry tobacco smoke (not heavy), black plum reduction sauce, hints of honeysuckle and faint pungency of pomagranate juice, with only the very faintest whiff of heat. Mouth is rich (not opulent) with intense black berry fruit liqueurs, cracked granite and mocha. This is so well-integrated I just don't see how it's going to get any better, but it will probably sail on through the next 5 years at this same plateau. This is greatness in a bottle my friends. The tannins clamp down a bit on the finish, but oh what a finish! It sails on for 60+ seconds and just keeps repeating the blackberry liqueur, mocha, leather and licorice theme. This is one of the best Bordeaux-style wines I've ever had and actually beat out the 2005 Schrader RBS today. Unbelievable!
