93 Points

Tuesday, October 11, 2011 - From a 375. Popped and poured to accompany pan-fried steaks. Inky purple color. Nose of cedar, blackberry, currant, cassis, earth. Luxuriant palate feel with ripe red and black currants on the tongue joined by leather, moca, and sweet black plum. Moderate acidity balanced by structured but mellowing tannins, leading to a grippy finish marked by blackberry fruit and a bit of tobacco. Nicely done, needs more years yet to truly peak.
