Thursday, January 24, 2013 - The color is purple and very dense and opaque. The smells are tar, currant, smoke, dark fruits, and camphor. The tastes are crushed blueberry, vanilla, cedar, hoison, pepper, raspberry, blackberry, and dark chocolate. This wine really started to open up as time passed and needed some air, but did it seem to shape-shift quite a bit as flavors took turns making there presence known and then giving way to the next! The structure is powerful but elegant and the tannins are sheer and silky The finish is lengthy and the acidity is pleasant. A complex wine that was multifaceted.
