91 Points

Tuesday, November 27, 2012 - Quite young now and not as approachable as the 2009 was at this time last year. Comparatively, the 2010 has more candied sweetness on the nose, giving primary grape and cotton candy aromas (purple grape hard candy) and less mesquite and BBQ notes. It adds black slate, sweet molasses, dark chocolate shavings, black licorice, and road tar/asphalt. Palate is closed down with green tea tannins at the moment, but there is nice mineral-laced black plum and bitter blueberry behind the tannins, although the fruit is clearly greener and less concentrated than the 2009. Should improve with medium-term cellaring; try 2014-2018. 91+
