Wednesday, August 5, 2015 - Opened and decanted about 30-min ahead of burgers, salad, and Corn on the Cob. Took about that amount of time to open up. Once it did, absolutely gorgeous - a nice blending of old-world and new-world. Dark, murky, purple color. Nose brings nice WA garrigue (from "The Rocks," they say) of musty old horse saddle, hints of dried cow manure, dried out dead grass, and bright cherry menthol. The palate is full and round with phenomenal weight and texture - feeling almost extracted, new world style...but then it brings dark raspberries, cured beef, Manhattan cherries, leather, herbs, and even a hint of V8 juice (with perhaps an olive) into the tail. The finish is well-integrated and slightly thin on entry, but overall very composed and put-together. Perhaps the most balanced WA Syrah I've had yet. Drink now before 2020. Should continue to evolve but might lose a little weight.
