Sunday, December 14, 2008 - The best bottle of this vintage we've had yet. Enjoyed with Kim and good friend neighborbill and spouse Debbie before "Santaland Diaries" accompanied by heavy hors d'ouvers. Just an absolutely outstanding cab, not decanted but opened up three hours prior to drinking and this is really drinking prime right now. Very good, well balanced, smooth and somewhat muted elegant and complex Sonoma cab with at least 5 years more cellaring potential left. This vintage keeps getting better and better with every bottle we have. Very dark purple, good mouth feel, pleasant 30 - 45 second aftertaste. Nose surprisingly floral with hints of vanilla and muted oak. Primary flavors include balanced and not overpowering oak, terroir, tar, cassis and blueberry with hints of vanilla, smoke and black pepper developing on palate as wine opened up in glass. Too expensive to be a good QPR but as noted above just very good, highly recommend this.
