Community Tasting Note

Monday, February 4, 2013 - Decanted for 6 hours, give or take. Just a wonderful, fully realized nose, full of Left Bank Cassis and minty charms, further swirls adding some clove / tobacco and just right amount of damp earth. I love where this wine is right now, not at maturity but in certainly better shape to drink than the more masculine, not quite ready 2000 LP. The fruit is at once bright and accessible, but savory and full of energy. Tannins still have some kick, but are fully integrated with the wine as a whole. Far enough along that no trace of oak or barrel can be tasted but I suspect it as added textural richness, the goal of wood all along I would think. Pretty long and lingering on the finish. I’d like to give a big shout out to CT community, whose long string of positive notes and scores prompted me to pick up a few of these last fall, otherwise I doubt I would have had the gumption to purchase this on my own accord.
