2010 Querciabella Chianti Classico

Community Tasting Note

Likes this wine:

Saturday, January 2, 2016 - Poured a couple glasses out to breathe. Pretty dark ruby color. 100% Sangiovese with mostly 2nd & 3rd use French oak. A good combination of spicy aromatics & bright red fruit with a pleasant acid/tannin balance. Medium bodied with an elegance on the palate. The spiciness which was more apparent on the nose gives way to a darker tart cherry flavor as it opens up. Just enough grip on the palate elevates the fruitiness here.

We enjoyed this with a carmelized garlic & Parmesan quiche which is something I would normally grab a high acid white to pair with. The fruity nature of this was a great match with the nutty garlic & there was more than enough acid to cut the richness of the pie. Very good Chianti.
