Sunday, February 10, 2013 - I have found that the Dutton-Goldfield wines are remarkably consistent with the tasting notes the winery publishes. That's the case here. Beautiful ruby-like color. Fairly low alcohol, so no heat. Nice, not overpowering, acidity. Taste bright red fruits, some candy-like flavors, baking spices, and a touch of oak. It is soft in texture, and yet there are bracing tannins still there, which should make for some real aging potential. It's awfully good right now, but if you can wait 2-3 years on the next bottle, I think you will be well-rewarded.
