Monday, December 12, 2005 - Drank this with the 1996 vintage back to back/side by side.
Very tasty rich Bordeaux with some time needed to mellow the tannins and develop the flavors. Leather/Tar/Raspberry/Chocolate flavors followed by the drying tannin at the end, a little bit-ey.
Compared to the 1996, this one definately had the same backbone flavor, but harder tannin at the end, and also a distinctive "roasted marshmellow" or caramelized aroma that I really enjoyed. I just bought one bottle, but I'm going back to get more for the cave.
