Saturday, January 4, 2014 - Schizophrenic wine experience. Served over two days. Evolved significantly within each session, and came across more differently between me and my wife than any other wine we have shared. Strong acid, tannin and earth backdrop with whiffs of fruit and funk that came across as sauerkraut-esque to me, but not so to my wife. She picked up much more of a dark fruit and floral sense. Airtime saw the funk dissipate, letting the intensity of the mineral quality and fruit shine, still with that long acid/spice. Always midweight and tangy on the tongue. But oddly I continued to get a flip flop off the entire expression--making me recall more tasting across an array of IPAs to Belgian beers than wine (not literal fruit profile of course). Nice to taste a wine the moves the dial the way this does. Looking forward to the Bianco.

1/11/2014 10:49:00 AM - Very interesting note. I recently got hold of the first bottles by this producer, exactly this wine, and can't wait to open one. Your note made me *very* curious...
