Tuesday, December 4, 2012 - Aromatic and Muscular. The nose shows vibrant notes of toasty mineral and spicy berry with a slight sweet red liquor and a composty earthiness. The palate carries black cherry skin and pomegranate after a while but, a toasty mineral dominates until this really has a chance to breathe. After a couple of hours open, the fruit shows better richness and it begins to develop light notes of broth and tea leaves. The wine itself is a beautifully bright, translucent ruby color with a dense, viscous and muscular body and a solid medium-full weight. This is young and the acidic backbone needs some time to mellow, but it's going to show very well with time.
Starts to show good balance after about 3 hours. (Should have decanted).
