Thursday, October 20, 2005 - 14.8% alc...1% Viognier, but the label doesn't mention any co-fermentation action...one other note from the label, this Syrah is a selection known as "Syrah Noir" and Draper prefers this selection over the most recent French versions of Syrah...darker in color than this 8 year veteran of ATP expected, deep and black - never purple...the nose indicates wet muddy earth, interesting char elements, sweet blackberries - deep and dense on the nose with a touch of something like black licorice...good acidity, generous and mouthfilling, yet balanced, not really structured, seems to be more about the fruit extract, long and spicy, blueberry like on the finish. I agree with the notes on the bottle, fairly exhuberant now, but let this one lay down for a few and see where it goes. ($30)
