Tuesday, July 1, 2014 - Ruby color. Nose: blueberry, boysenberry, and bottled cherry with accents of violets/roses, vanilla, bacon, tobacco, baking spices, dark chocolate, and licorice root. Medium body on the palate: black cherry, boysenberry, and blueberry framed by licorice root, clove, tobacco, vanilla bean, mocha, Sichuan peppercorn, and black olive. Medium+ acidity. Moderate/lighter tannins. Lingering licorice root, clove, Sichuan peppercorn, and black olive on the moderate finish. Vibrant fruit with lots of earthy spice accents. Great table red. An ideal match for Carolina-style pulled pork. Drink over the next 2-3 years.
