Monday, October 28, 2013 - 1 hour slow ox. This was mixed in with a bunch of other cabs, and truly was one that overperformed from my expectations. Terroir sticks out with this one. I really like this vineyard, and the two that work it really do a great job with it. I wish I could have tasted this side by side with Mike Smith's version.

I would echo pdemaio's tasting note. This did have some backend grip, but it's fruit was so opulent that the tannins were a small part of the story. This is a well made wine, that is true of its sense of place.

I'm glad I picked this up when it was offered, but I am a bit concerned about the price point. While it seems worth the original release price, I think there are others out there for sub $75 that might be replacing this as future purchases for me.

It is beautifully brilliant, and needs time in the bottle to shed some tannins. Hopefully the fruit doesn't shed, as it is a nice drink right now.

Decant for at least four hours to give this some air, as it needs it.
