Wednesday, September 28, 2011 - Smooth as silk! Initially, sulfur on the nose when decanted, which went away within a few minutes. Wish we would have opened it up a couple years ago; it's missing that something. This is an aged wine right here - aged wines have different nuances and difference sublties. I think I prefered it when we first opened it back in '03. There are definite sublties here; I'm just missing that fruit. What a contrast from when we drank it young and now; but it's still good. The fruit is there, no big fruit, no tannins. Glad we opened it now, it would have nothing in a few years. Smooth as silk, that's what this is. That's what I felt about the reserve, too. It's not the Whitehall that we're used to, but the bottom line is it's still good.
