Friday, February 6, 2015 - Tasting in Châteauneuf-du-Pape; 2/5/2015-2/7/2015 (Châteauneuf-du-Pape, Southern Rhône, France): Tasted two separate bottles; the first was freshly opened: very elegant, with brooding dark fruit and spice. Rich dark fruit, spice, and a little bitter dark chocolate on the palate. Finishes with fine tannins and balanced acidity.

The second bottle had been open for 1 week already: more savory, spicy fruit, but still that same elegance as the fresh bottle. Similar notes on the palate as above, but just a bit more expressive.
