Wednesday, April 3, 2013 - Pop and pour. The nose immediately exuded an array of dark fruit, licorice, and pepper aromas. Layers of blackberry, red plum, and iron notes on the med-full bodied palate. There's a sweetness and a compote-like nature to the fruit that's balanced nicely by the young tannins. Not a hint of the 15% abv. on the med+ finish. Much different than the 2010 which had a creamy, fuller bodied mouthfeel and bigger, brooding character. Very good, and I look forward to comparing the two vintages side by side in the future.
