Friday, April 3, 2015 - Tasted blind at the Domaine, the 1990 DRC Romanée St. Vivant is in a lovely place, displaying expressive aromas of wild plums, baked cherries—with a hint of sur maturité—roast game, earthy sous bois, and violets. Large-scaled and expansive on the palate, this was really very serious, and for all the talk about RSV improving over the last few decades, it is clear that the wine was no slouch in the past either, at least in years such as 1990.
