Tuesday, April 7, 2015 - Not my favorite of Carlisle '11s but this also seems to be in a tough place. Great expressive nose (after an hr of air) of brambly fruit and exotic spice. Palate was much tighter, high toned, and showing some alcohol. Finish with a touch of vanilla and some tannin. Not as seamless as most Carlisle Zins, as they have created quite an expectation. Still, despite the 16% alcohol had plenty of freshness and structure. Needs a couple years to settle.
