Friday, April 19, 2013 - This lovely Sauvignon is from a little-known and under-appreciated producer in the village of Bué. The wine is mainly from a caillottes intensive site known as Le Grand Chemarin but because the appellation rules disallow the use of single vineyard names, Roger uses the phrase "Cuvée G.C" on the label to indicate its origin. The acidic edge that is typical of Sauvignon has been rounded out with fully ripe fruit and the resulting wine is soft and textural with low levels of green pyrazine flavor. Gala apple, white peach and zesty citrus aromas are enhanced by flavors of fragrant apples, blossoms and sweet herbs. A very appealing and easy-to-drink Sancerre and ideal with spring and summer cookery.
