95 Points

Sunday, July 7, 2013 - Cork soaked up to 1mm from the top. Medium golden-orange in color; very aromatic, creamsicle orange, spices, nutmeg, baking spice, creme brulee, incredibly complex and intoxicating, slightly floral after a bit of air; palate is full bodied, concentrated but not thick with very smooth texture, not at the age where it has dried out yet... still a lot of residual sweetness and enough acidity to help it stay lifted and fresh without being tingly (quite elegant), has orange rind in the midpalate; long finish with persistent orange. Classic Fargues style with its concentration but elegance, perfect stage 3 maturity, ready to drink now or in the next half-decade. Among the best I've had from Chateau de Fargues. 95
Update: After a few hours, this wine loses some of its superlative complexity. It is still excellent and enjoyable, but it loses just a bit of its edge. Drink relatively quickly once open for full enjoyment.
Day 2: Lost a lot of the subtlety that made it unique. Decent, but no longer stellar. Low 90s.
