Sunday, April 6, 2014 - FIRST NIGHT:
On opening, the oak is prominent and it's still a baby... but there's lots of good stuff going on. It opened up somewhat over the course of the evening to show good acidity, a decent tannic backbone, lush fruit, and some savoury notes that should move further to the forefront in time.
24 HOURS LATER:
It has all come together. Classic Cab Sauv black fruit, but balanced with a bit of feminine red berry. Superb tobacco and leather notes that linger on the finish. Fantastic fine grained, slightly dusty tannins. And refreshing acidity. Excellent balance. A serious, understated Cab.
It's still young, but it's already a really, really good bottle. Exactly my style of Cali Cab.

4/27/2014 5:22:00 PM - This is handy. I bought two magnums when they came out as I figured it could be an amazing steak-with-friends wine. Sounds like that could be right, especially if I can convince them to come back the second night : )
