Thursday, March 19, 2015 - Serious Priorat wine, the entry level wine of the Mas Doix estate (Poboleda, province of Tarragona /fourth vintage). Grape varieties: 80 % Garnatxa, 10 % Carinyena and 10 % Syrah. Aged for 10 months in second year French oak barriques. Decanted: one hour prior to tasting. Intense cherry-red color with violet reflections and an alluring nose of ripe red fruit, cassis, sweet spices and tones of licorice and dark chocolate. The powerful palate reveals a well-structured wine with abundant ripe plum and berry fruit (sour cherry, elderberry), a harmonious texture and masculine but well-behaved tannins. Complex finish with an agreeable balsamic touch. Drink it now through 2018.
Stevige Priorat-wijn, de instapwijn van het domein Mas Doix (Poboleda, provincie Tarragona/vierde jaargang). Samenstelling: 80 % Garnatxa, 10 % Carinyena en 10 % Syrah. De wijn rijpte 10 maarden in Franse tweedejaars barriques. Gedecanteerd: één uur voor consumptie. Intens kersrood van kleur met violette reflecties en een verleidelijke neus van rijp rood fruit, cassis, zachte kruiden en ook wat nuances van zoethout en donkere chocolade. Een degelijk gestructureerde wijn met overvloedig rijp pruimen- en bessenfruit (zure kers, vlierbes), met een harmonieuze textuur en deftige maar al goed geïntegreerde tannines. Complexe afdronk met een aangename balsamische toets. Te drinken: nu tot 2018.
