Wednesday, April 29, 2015 - Flowers luncheon at SIXTEEN (Chicago, Illinois): could be vintage difference, but I'm digging the 2011 Sea View Ridge way over the '12 CMR PN. 43 acres of vines at SVR and almost all PN, with some Pinot Meunier. More Dijon clones here, but still dominated by heritage clones.
more ethereal on the nose than the CMR '12. ripe strawberry and a hint of spearmint on the palate. zest of lemon lime on the palate and more mossiness to the nose. 10% whole cluster. easier price than the CMR because there is more PN planted in SVR than CMR. SVR soils are iron rich, red volcanic ash. 30% new French for 15 months. 12.9% ABV.
1.7 acres of Pinot Meunier at SVR with block 19 PN, they have started a sparkling program. 2016 at the earliest.
