84 Points

Saturday, May 4, 2013 - The only way I can describe this is "brawny". Brilliant ruby color. Primary aromatics, which bounced between bright, wild berries, dusty mushrooms and a metallic minerality. An immediate sip troubled me, dominated by a tart; nearly sour acidity. The wine mellowed out over the next 3 hours but, although not heavy or astringent at all, it was a real assertive bowl of juice. Slightly disappointed that the tartness returned in my last 1/2 glass. Looking forward to revisiting in the future but will have to give it some time and then, some air. (a potential 89 but not at this stage)
