Friday, March 1, 2013 - A nice surprise - I had zero expectations for a 37-year old California Pinot but it delivered. Brick red with orange rim; mid-to-full-bodied with spice-driven aromas of must, wet earth, loam, forest floor, wet rocks, conifer, tomatoes, briars, and a whiff of sulfur. Similar flavors; time in the glass brought out black cherry fruit and more spice. Medium+ finish lingered. This was all Old World - earthy, balanced, evolved, and engaging.
