Sunday, April 7, 2013 - 2012 En Primeur - Kelly and Kevin’s excellent adventure; 4/4/2013-4/9/2013 (Bordeaux, France): The biggest and most concentrated wine that I have tasted during the 12 EP. Although I didn’t get to visit Jean Luc Thunevin hence didn’t get to taste the 12 Valandraud, the wine reminded me the 10 Valandraud, but a bit less polished and riper. Very ripe fruits, a hint of balsamico, lactic, oak, coffee and vanilla. Big scale wine, unctuous, very ripe, excellent concentration, high level of glycerin and silky tannins.

4/19/2013 11:42:00 AM - I assume the 11 was released around $80. It appears that the 12 EP prices are about 30% lower than the 11s in general. So around $60 would be my guess. Then again the proprietor, Silvio Denz, has a deep pocket and the production is only 1k cases.
It is a very hedonistic style of wine not unlike Valandraud or cal cult cabs. I would think that Bob would love this wine but I don't think he will rate as high as the 10. The purchase should be for consumption as I don’t see much upside. Having said that, if $60, a great wine to drink unless one hates modern style.
