Thursday, May 9, 2013 - Very surprising at this price level, from this region. Usually sub-$20 will get you something either thin or simple and bland. It is a Power Pinot, but with plenty of character. Horse saddle on the nose, along with menthol and black cherry. Dense on the palate, medium full body, medium acidity, dark fruit driven. Finish has spicy oak and even a suggestion of tar with firm tannic structure.

This is extracted and muscular for a Pinot--I don't know what I'd peg it as blind as it has certain Bordelais and Nebbiolo-like qualities. Yet there is quite a lot going on and might need a few years to unwind.
