93 Points

Wednesday, August 14, 2013 - Decanted 45 mins. ahead. Nice black cherry color with purple tones. Interesting spicy nose, with black pepper, white pepper, and cherry notes. Lively and elegant on the palate, full of supple and seductive fruit, balanced by tobacco and cedar flavors. Acid balance is juicy and rich. Finishes well with another blast of dark cherry fruit and moderately full tannins. Technically speaking, this is one very nice bottle of juice. The Cab/Syrah blend is still rare in CA (l'Aventure among a few others) but this wine (and that one) show its potential. It drinks a bit like a Petite Sirah right now, with attractive fruit and lively tannins, but it could also take some years in the bottle. I wish I had more.
