Saturday, June 1, 2013 - I'm a wine guy, but my brother-in-law showed me a bottle of this that he was cellaring and then I had the fortunate circumstance to be enjoying a meal at Babe's BBQ in Rancho Mirage when, lo and behold!, they were offering the 2013 (#4) bottling of Parabola. I jumped on the chance to try it and it was amazing with the pork ribs, sweet potato with butter and pecans and cornbread. This "beer" (it's 13%ABV) isn't so much a beer as it is an elixir of sorts. Even Stacy said it didn't taste like beer. It is a wonderful mélange of espresso, dark chocolate, anise, dried root vegetables, molasses, nutmeg and other roasted spices. Wow! I was half way through a 22oz bottle when I decided to look at the ABV. No wonder why my head was fuzzy! You'd never know it had 13%. Unbelievably smooth, just a pleasant amount of bitterness. I found 4 at BevMo today and bought them all. If you like tannic wines, try this bad boy. You may be surprised at how much this transcends any beer experience you've ever had.
