Saturday, February 28, 2015 - Still has nice dark ruby color. Complex, but somewhat muted nose of cassis, spice, leather, forest floor, and licorice. Silky and mouth-filling. Tannins still prominent, nice acidic backbone. Lengthy finish. A very nice wine, but perhaps I expected more. This wine has the structure to continue for 10+ years, and perhaps it will improve further. But right now, it is austere and lacks a bit of charm. For a 1986 wine to seem this young is impressive, and this is no doubt a great wine. I just hope that it opens up a bit more.
