Thursday, January 15, 2015 - What an elegant wine, and drinking nicely in its youth at that. Beautiful purple color, clear at the rim. Nose hits you immediately with violet/floral components and this brambly purple fruit plus a dose of olive and black pepper to let you know it's northern rhone syrah. Exquisite balance, and while it doesn't possess the structure or density of the 2010, it's going to be a wonderful mid-term ager. Best in 5-7 years, perhaps. Improved dramatically as it sat in the glass, always a good sign.
