Tuesday, May 19, 2015 - From the CGT Eclectic Series. (A mixture of three pinots: Noir, Blanc, and Gris. Typically with 65 percent PB, 30 percent PG, and 5 percent PN, but may differ somewhat from year to year. This one is 70%/25%/5%. Current retail about $15/750 ml. 12.8 pabv. Winemaker Sean O'Keefe. From Old Mission Peninsula, estate bottled, vineyards, Fisher-Bella Donna (PB), Steen (PG), Zafarana (PN). Stelvin closure. Bought one but also asked for one more to be left in my room at the Chalet.

Llight yellow-green. Compared with tasting a year ago, considerable improvement and positive evolution. I'm used to Ship of Fools giving its all right out of the blocks, and that's a good amount of all. Used as an ingredient and an accompaniment to a homemade Osso Buco Milanese/Risotto Milanese combo.

Very typical Formosa oolong, white cherry turnover, and light floral notes. Nice lemon-lime zest overlying a nice warmth on the finish. Still could use a year in the cellar, but I like 'em when the body and head park company. A slightly more ripe and powerful style; give it time. Drink now-2016.
