Saturday, January 23, 2016 - I still remember the impression the 2007 version of this wine left on my palate. That one surprised me, but this time we knew what to expect. This is a lot of wine for the money that drink way beyond it's price point. This time I think the Carmenere component is a little more dominant than I rembered. There is deep rich purple color on full bodied wine with plenty of smokey oak. Kind of a traditional Bordeaux blend with a Chilean bend with a stemmy, woody characteristic. Lots of both red and dark fruit. Smokey. Spicy. Plentry of oak. A hint of raisin with big graphite and lingering dark fruit on the finish.
