Thursday, August 8, 2013 - Terrific stuff. Nose is focused and offers cassis, cedar, tobacco and herbs. Palate has medium body with precise and pure mountain, herb-filled red fruit. Unmistakably California mountain fruit - with it's mineral and herb driven character. Tannin is smooth and velvety providing grip throughout the mid-palate and finish. Excellent balancing acidity provides brightness and freshness. Long flavorful finish that echos the nose. Clocking in at a pleasant 13.5% alcohol. This is still youthful and bright. Delicious now - but I bet this ages for another decade+ while picking up complexity and nuance over time. In the mold of Forman, Laurel Glen and other old school Napa Cab producers.
